IIT Bombay provides a number of scholarship programmes, including Institute Scholarships, Government Scholarships, Private Scholarships, and Fellowships for its Ph.D. students, to help students with their financial needs. Every scholarship has requirements that must be met in order to be awarded. The following are a few of the most well-liked scholarship programs that IIT Bombay and other private scholarships offer.

Merit Cum Means Scholarship (Institute Scholarship):

The Merit Cum Means Scholarship is given to new applicants whose family income is less than INR 4.5 lakhs per year and their JEE AIR rank. Under the Merit Cum Means scholarship, up to 25% of undergraduate students would receive a monthly benefit of INR 1000 in addition to a free tuition price of INR 25,000 per semester.

Also, nearly ten percent of students have the benefit of free tuition.

All SC and ST students are granted free messing and a monthly pocket allowance of INR 250 in addition to being excused from paying tuition.

1.Students are not required to pay tuition if their parents earn less than Rs. 1 lakh.

Women-

  • An annual scholarship of Rs. 40,000.
  • An annual women's merit scholarship of 10,000 rupees.

Others:

  • The tuition fee being waived.
  • An annual scholarship of Rs. 40,000.
  1. Students with parents who make at least Rs. 1 lakh and up to Rs. 3 lakhs:

Ladies -

  • The tuition fee being waived.
  • A 30,000-rupee scholarship each year.
  • An annual women's merit scholarship of 10,000 rupees.

Others:

  • The tuition fee being waived.
  • A 30,000-rupee scholarship each year.
  1. Students whose parents earn between Rs. 3 lakh and Rs. 5 lakh or more:

Women:

  • Are not required to pay the tuition.
  • A scholarship worth Rs. 20,000 annually.
  • A 10,000-rupee annual women's merit scholarship.

Others:

  • Remission of the tuition charge.
  • A scholarship worth Rs. 20,000 annually.

IIT Bombay Heritage Fund Scholarship:

Established by IIT Bombay alumni in the United States, the IIT Bombay Heritage Fund raises money from former students for the university's scholarship program. The MCM Scholarship's merit requirement and the IIT Bombay Heritage Fund Scholarship's qualifying requirements are identical.

The annual income of the parents of the students seeking to apply for the IIT Bombay Heritage Fund Scholarship must not exceed INR 5 lakhs from all sources.

Dr. Burjor Godrej Scholarship:

Ten Prof. MV Pandya Merit Cum Means Scholarships of INR 1000 per month, six Dr. Burjor Godrej Merit Cum Means Scholarships of INR 2000 per month, and two Dr. Burjor Godrej Merit Scholarships of INR 5000 per month are all offered by IIT Bombay.

The previously mentioned scholarships are open to candidates who have been accepted into IIT Bombay's M.Sc. Chemistry programs.

The highest SPI that M.Sc. program students can obtain is the requirement for the Dr. Burjor Godrej Scholarship.

Additionally, since the fellowship lasts for five months each semester, the student with the highest SPI will get a total award of INR 25,000 for the previous semester.

Under the MV Pandya Fellowship Merit cum Means Scholarship, students whose parents combined annual income does not exceed INR 1.5 lakhs are eligible to receive an annual grant of INR 10,000.

Aditya Birla Scholarship:

  • Aditya Birla Scholarship recipients receive INR 65,000 annually in addition to full course coverage. But every year, the students performance is rigorously watched in order to determine whether or not the prizes be renewed.
  • Both qualitative and quantitative factors are used to determine the Aditya Birla Scholars' performance evaluation standards.
  • Candidates for the Aditya Birla Scholarship must rank in the top 25% of their batch and receive at least a 7 on a 9-point rating during the course work in order to be eligible for renewal.
  • In addition, candidates must produce a 350-400 word essay on the topic of Being an Aditya Birla Scholar: Experience sharing and actively participate in the institute's activities.

Aditya Birla Scholarship Selection Process:

  • The data that the qualified students submit on their application form is used to assess them.
  • During the application process, overall accomplishments, academic experiences, and extracurricular activities are also evaluated and given weight.
  • Candidates are first whittled down based on their essays and applications, and those who make the cut are invited to the next round of interviews. Nonetheless, the invited students receive reimbursement for their travel and lodging costs.
  • After passing the interview, candidates are given the opportunity to apply for scholarships.

OPJEMS Scholarship:

  • An annual scholarship worth INR 65,000 is awarded by IIT Bombay under the OPJEMS program.
  • Students at IIT Bombay are given scholarships in two main categories. The pupils are divided into the following categories:
  • For all four years, there were two winners from each batch in the following streams: Engineering specialisations include civil, electrical, mechanical, and metallic.
  • Top 12 students across all specialisations and streams for each batch over the course of four years.
  • A total of 112 students from 33 institutes are given the scholarship, which is given based on the student's performance on an online test and a personal interview.
  • Nonetheless, the online exam and the interview will be equally weighted in the selection process.

INSPIRE Scholarship:

The INSPIRE Scholarship is well-liked by IIT students enrolled in bachelor's and master's degree programs. The INSPIRE Scholarship program provides 10,000 scholarships annually, valued at INR 80,000, to students pursuing natural and basic science bachelor's or master's degrees at IIT Bombay.

A candidate must meet the minimal requirements in order to be eligible for an INSPIRE Scholarship, including

  • A candidate should have chosen Natural & Basic Sciences and placed in the top 1% of the class of the 12th grade.
  • Students who achieved top 10,000 rankings in the Joint Entrance Examination for IIT, AIEEE, and those who passed the AIPMT.

In addition to the scholarships listed above, there are other scholarships available, including government-sponsored scholarships like the DBT, NBHM, NTS, and Central Sector scholarships.

National Scholarships (All States):

Students from the participating states are given the opportunity to apply for National Scholarships. IIT is used to forward the applications. Students who wish to be considered for this scholarship must submit their progress report at the start of the academic year. It is awarded or renewed annually.
