Indira Gandhi National Tribal University in Amarkantak, Anuppur district, Madhya Pradesh, India, was established through an Act of Parliament, Indira Gandhi National Tribal University Act, 2007, by the Government of India. The university provides avenues of higher education and research facilities primarily for the tribal population of India.
Indira Gandhi National Tribal University (IGNTU) offers a variety of Undergraduate, Postgraduate and Doctoral courses leading to BA, B.Sc., B.Com, BJMC, BBA, BCA, B.Pharm, B.Voc, B.Ed., Integrated B.Ed., MA, MBA, MCA, M.Com, M.Sc., MJMC, Ph.D. and D.Pharm programs.
Minimum eligibility for UG courses is passed in 10+2 examination in relevant stream with minimum 50% marks. For PG courses, candidates must pass in graduation degree with minimum 50% marks.
The Admission in the UG Courses shall be given based on CUET conducted by NTA. For the admission in PG Courses, the University will conduct the Entrance Test.
In case of two or more candidates securing equal marks in the qualifying examination/Entrance Test then the admission will be successively given in order of preference as follows:
- Who secures highest marks/CGPA in the qualifying examination
- Who obtained highest marks in the relevant subject for which he/she is seeking admission
- Who obtained highest marks in previous examinations. (10+2 for UG and 10+2+3 for PG)
IGNTU UG Admission 2025
The Indira Gandhi National Tribal University offers B.A, B.Com, BJMC, BBA, and B.Pharm at the UG level. The eligibility to apply to any of the Undergraduate programs of Indira Gandhi National Tribal University ranges between 40%-50% in 10+2. Admission will be granted based on Common University Entrance Test (CUET) scores.

IGNTU UG selection criteria
Based on the scores in CUET, candidates are offered admission to Indira Gandhi National Tribal University. A merit list will be prepared in descending order of the scores of many candidates. The candidates who will meet all the university's requirements will be called for further rounds of the admission process. After displaying the CUET result, candidates will have to enrol for counselling rounds and hence the candidates can select the colleges as per their requirements.
Candidates will have to go through the CUET exam which has three sections-
- Section I – Section I comprises of Section IA and Section IB. Section IA will have 13 languages out of which candidates are given an option of selecting one language. Section IB contains a set of 20 languages out of which only one language has to be selected.
- Section II – Section II of CUET is domain-specific test that means candidates will have to choose a set of specific domains in which they want to make their career. Candidates should choose the domains after careful consideration as these will be the deciding factor when choosing their university. Candidates can select a maximum of 6 domains from a list of 27.
- Section III – Section III is a general test wherein candidates will be tested based on basic general questions based on General Knowledge, Current Affairs, General Mental Ability, Numerical Ability, Quantitative Reasoning, Logical and Analytical Reasoning

Candidates applying for UG courses at IGNTU must follow the below-mentioned steps to apply for CUET:
Step I: Candidates should go to the CUET's official website.
Step II: Go to the top right corner and click Register.
Step III: Fill in all required information, including basic and personal information.
Step IV: Double-check the accuracy of the information you provided on the application form. If the information on the application form is incorrect, edit it.
Step V: From the drop-down menu, select the University and Program.
Step VI: Choose your CUET test paper and/or subject(s).
Step VII: Complete the CUET exam language.

IGNTU offers several postgraduate programmes in Arts, Literature, Science, Commerce, Business Administration, Computer Application, Mass Communication & Journalism.
Minimum eligibility for PG courses is passed in Graduation degree with a minimum of 50% marks. Admission to the PG courses at IGNTU is done through the IGNTU Admission Test.
Age limit for PG Courses:
- Candidates seeking admission in Postgraduate Courses should not be over 27 years old on 1st July. Age relaxation of 5 Years shall be given to candidates belonging to SC, ST and PWD categories, whereas candidates belonging to the OBC (Non-Creamy Layer) category shall get 3 years relaxation in upper age limit

- Candidates appearing in the Final Year of the Qualifying Examination may also apply and appear in the Entrance Test.

At the doctoral level, IGNTU offers PhD courses with multiple specializations in various fields, like
Communication and Media Studies, Economics, Geography & Regional Development, Political Science & Human Rights, Management, Tribal Studies, Linguistics and Contrastive Study of Tribal Languages, Science and Social Work.
Admission to the Ph.D. courses is done through an Entrance Test. However, candidates need to hold a Master's degree in a relevant discipline to get admission to the doctoral programmes.

How to Apply
- Visit the official website of the university.
- Candidates must have a valid email ID and mobile number at registration.
- Fill out the form online and upload a recent passport-size photograph and signature.
- Candidates can pay the application fees via Bank Challan, which are generated after filling out the application form online.
- Fees from any nationalised bank can be paid in the University’s Account number (State Bank of India) through NEFT mode.
