Jawaharlal Nehru Technological University (JNTU) Kakinada, formerly known as The College of Engineering, Vishakhapatnam, was established in 1946. It offers a variety of undergraduate, postgraduate, and doctorate courses through its five engineering departments.
JNTUK has two constituent colleges and a handful of private affiliated colleges, and candidates seeking admission to university courses must take the entrance exam administered by JNTUK on behalf of APSCHE. This entrance exam will grant admission to several professional courses offered on the university campus/private affiliated colleges in Andhra Pradesh.
- Candidates for admission to the university's UG programs must have passed the 10+2 examination with a minimum aggregate score.
- Admission to UG courses is determined by the AP-EAMCET (Engineering, Agriculture, and Medical Common Entrance Test).
- Candidates seeking admission should fill out the application form on the official EAMCET website.
- For PG courses, GATE results are recognised for admission to the M.Tech program.
- Candidates for admission to the M.Pharm program must have a valid GPAT score.
- Andhra Pradesh residents can apply for PG courses through the AP PGECET.
- Candidates for the university's MBA and MCA programs are selected via the AP ICET, which is administered by Andhra University in Visakhapatnam on behalf of APSCHE.
- Selection to Ph.D. programs will be based on the candidate's performance in the AP RCET, followed by an interview.

At the UG level, the institute's B.Tech. course is extremely respected, and thousands of candidates compete in EAMCET each year for admission to JNTUK.
The qualifying percentage of marks for the AP-EAMCET is 25% of the total marks considered for ranking. However, there is no minimum qualifying score for candidates from Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes.

Post-Graduation in concerned discipline by a UGC approved institute. The minimum marks in PG should be 60% for OBC and other categories and 55% for SC/ST. The candidates with English, Arts and Commerce discipline have the benefit of 5% relaxation. |
The admissions are done on the basis of Written test and Personal interview. The minimum qualifying marks for the written test is 40% for OBC and Other Categories, for SC/ST is 25%. For the candidates who have qualified UGC/CSIR/NET/SLET need to appear for only Personal Interview. |
Admission will be based on the AP RCET. The Directorate of Admissions will make the final selection.
- The entrance exam will have a maximum score of 180.
- The Entrance Test will be divided into two parts: Part A and Part B.
- Part A (Teaching and Research Aptitude) for 90 marks
- Part-B will be a subject-specific 90-mark exam.
- The respective University Department will contact qualified candidates for interviews/viva-voces following the Entrance Test.
- Candidates will be asked to propose their research interests/areas before a duly constituted Committee.
- The interview will be worth 20 marks.
The Selection Process
B.Tech/B.Pharm.
- Admission to B.Tech and B.Pharm. Courses will be provided based on the candidate's performance in the EAMCET (Engineering, Agriculture, and Medical Common Entrance Test) administered by JNTUK on behalf of APSCHE.
- The exam will last three hours and will take place online.
- The exam will consist of 160 questions, including 80 in Mathematics, 40 in Physics, and 40 in Chemistry.
- Each correct answer will be worth one mark.
- Candidates must be 16 years old as of December 31st, the year of admission.
- There is no maximum age limit.
B.Arch.
Admission will be granted based on a verified NATA score.
Admission to M.Tech. and M.Pharm. programs will be based on GATE/GPAT or PGECET scores.
- The exam will be administered online.
- There will be a total of 120 multiple-choice questions.
- The exam will be in English.
- Candidates with valid GATE/GPAT results do not have to take the AP PGECET.
- Those that meet the stated cut off must register for the counselling process.
Counselling
- Shortlisted candidates will be contacted for AP PGECET Counselling once the results have been declared.
- Candidates will be called based on their merit and results in AP PGECET, GATE, or GPAT.
- Counselling will be performed separately for GATE and GPAT qualifiers.
- To participate in the admission procedure, candidates must pay a fee based on their category (General INR. 600/- and SC/ST INR. 300/-).
- Counselling begins with document verification, after which you can advance to web counselling.
