Shri Mata Vaishno Devi institution (SMVDU) is a state institution located in Katra, Jammu and Kashmir. It was founded in 1999 and is recognised by the UGC.
SMVDU is placed among the top 100 engineering institutions and top 150 universities in the country by NIRF 2018, Ministry of Human Resource Development, Government of India. With four faculties and fifteen schools, the university offers six undergraduate, fourteen postgraduate, and eight integrated programs in addition to the Ph.D.
Admission is based on both admission and merit, followed by SMVDU Direct Counselling. Applications for admission are accessible online. Entrance applications are available on their separate websites.
Students who wish to apply for B.Tech must have completed 10+2 with PCM from a recognised board or equivalent. They must also qualify for JEE Mains or CUET UG, followed by SMVDU Direct Counselling, JOSAA, or AIR (CRL).
Admission to B.Arch is based on either JEE Main or NATA scores. They must also have cleared 10+2 with PCM at 50%. Counselling is the same as for B.Tech.
Students seeking admission to M.Tech programs must pass the GATE or SMVDUEE exam and have a bachelor's degree in Engineering and Technology with a minimum of 50% aggregate. Admission is available through either CCMT Counselling or SMVDU Direct Counselling.
Admission to M.Sc. the program is based on performance in the University's SMVDUEE exam. Based on this, a merit list is created to grant students admission to their preferred subjects.
To be eligible for MBA enrolment, candidates must take the CAT, MAT, or CMAT for direct admission, or CUET PG if they do not qualify for the national entrance exams. After qualifying, the candidate will be invited to a group discussion, followed by a personal interview.
Ph.D. admissions are contingent on either qualifying for the UGC-NET/JRF/SLET or being admitted directly. Alternatively, applicants for University Entrance are shortlisted based on their past examination results.

The Admission Process
Applications for admission are accepted online on the university's official website for a cost of INR 1,500. The documents necessary for postgraduate admissions are as follows:
- Self-attested photocopy of SSC (with date of birth).
- Self-attested photocopy of HSSE certificates.
- Self-attested photocopies of Bachelors/UG Degrees and Marks-Sheets for all years/semesters of the Bachelors/UG Degree program.
- Two self-addressed, duly stamped envelopes.
- JEE Main Registration Card, JEE Main Rank Card/SMVDUEE Rank Card, and valid documents from the admission centre

JoSAA
Admission to B.Tech programs is handled by JoSAA (Joint Seat Allocation Authority). Students who have taken JEE Mains or JEE Advanced should keep the following points in mind when registering:
- Students who have passed the JEE Mains exam are only eligible to apply for seats in NITs.
- Candidates who have passed the JEE Advanced exam can apply to any of the participating universities.
- Applicants can select as many options as they want while enrolling, in decreasing order.
- Students must remember to lock their preferences in order to be evaluated for admission based on the possibilities provided. Once locked, no changes may be made.
- There are a total of seven rounds for seat distribution in which all institutions participate.
- Finally, an acceptance fee must be paid if you accept the seat provisionally.
- Students must visit the nearest JoSAA centre for document verification.
JEE Main
The application price for taking this exam varies according to the kind of candidature. The application fee in the general category is INR 325. The next section explains the criteria and registration process for JEE Mains.
Documents Required
- Scanned and recent photos in colour or black and white (with good contrast) JPG/JPEG format. Size should be between 10 and 200 kb.
- Scanned signature in JPG/JPEG format. Size should be between 4 and 30 kb.
- Application forms that have unclear images will be rejected.

- The application number will be produced after you submit your registration information.
