Common Admission Test (CAT-2025)

The subjects, grading system, and entrance exam format are all included in the CAT 2025 exam pattern. The Indian Institutes of Management (IIMs) administer the Common Admission Test (CAT), a national level management admission exam, on a rotating basis.

The scores of CAT are accepted by 20 IIMs as well as 100 B-schools of India. According to this year's timetable, the CAT exam will take place in the fourth week of November 2025.

It is imperative that you familiarize yourself with the exam pattern prior to beginning your preparation. It contains information on the exam's section count, question count, and marking system. There is just one way to obtain the CAT 2025 admission card:

  1. Exam Mode: The computer-based exam, or CAT, will be administered in 156 cities.
  2. Sections: The Common Admission Test will comprise three sections, i.e. Verbal Ability and Reading Comprehension, Data Interpretation and Logical Reasoning & Quantitative Ability.
  3. Type of Questions: There are both multiple-choice questions (MCQs) and non-MCQ questions on the question paper.
  4. No. of Question: Total 66 questions will be asked in the exam.
  5. Exam duration: Two hours and 120 minutes total, with 40 minutes allotted for each section.

CAT 2025: Ratio of MCQs & Non-MCQs Questions

  1. Non-MCQ questions started to appear in the CAT exam in 2015. These questions have no alternatives for answers. Using a virtual keyboard, candidates must input their answers.
  2. There are 18 MCQs spread throughout 4 RC sections. There are three categories for the verbal abilities of 8 non-MCQs: para summaries, context sentences, and para jumbles.
  3. There are two sets of six and four questions each: ten questions on logical reasoning and fourteen questions on data interpretation.
  4. There are twenty-two questions on arithmetic, algebra, geometry, roots, and other topics in the quantitative abilities section.
Marking Scheme

The CAT 2025 exam grading scheme is provided below

  1. Marking Scheme: Candidates receive three points for each correct response. Every question, whether MCQ and non-MCQ, has the same number of marks.
  2. Negative Marking: One mark is taken away for each incorrect response. For non-MCQ questions, there isn't a negative grading system, though.

It is crucial that applicants are fully aware of the exam format. Candidates can learn about the number of questions, question type, marking system, time limit, language, and other necessary information by using the pattern.
