| Marks | Candidates have to score a minimum of 55% in their master's degree qualifying test or an equivalent.
However, applicants who fall under the categories of SC, ST, PWD, OBC-NCL, or third gender must receive a lower minimum score of 50%. This criteria guarantees inclusion and gives a wide range of candidates opportunity. |
| Age Limit | Candidates applying for the Junior Research Fellowship (JRF) must be under 30 years of age as of the first day of the application month. However, reserved category candidates will receive a 5-year age relaxation. For those applying for the position of Assistant Professor, there is no age limit. |
| Appearing | Students in their final year or those who are awaiting their results may also apply to take the CSIR NET test. These applicants must be nearing completion of a master's degree program, or a comparable one, from an accredited university.
