Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar Open University (BAOU) is a flexible learning public university located in Ahmedabad, Gujarat that was established in 1994. It was created by the Gujarat State Legislature in accordance with Act No. 14 of 1994.
BAOU is a legitimized, reputable university. First of all, it holds UGC accreditation and A++ grade based on National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC) results. In addition to this, the university is a member of critical education associations such as Asian Association of Open Universities (AAOU), National Council for Teacher Education (NCTE), and International Council for Open and Distance Education (ICDE). Moreover, it is favored by the Association of Indian Universities (AIU).
The university offers over a thousand courses through its four schools of study. Students can choose between undergraduate (UG), postgraduate (PG), PhD, certificate, diploma, and different streams like Arts, Commerce, Science, Education, and Management. The distance learning program of BAOU has over 7 regional centers and more than 270 throughout the state of Gujarat, so students are easy to get access to education. They give out more than 80 distance learning courses, so students can study from home. At the UG level, students can take courses such as BA, BCom, BCA, BBA, and Bachelor of Social Work (BSW). For PG studies, they provide MBA, MCom, MCA, among others.
The university also provide online courses through its Centre for Online Education (COE). Most of the admissions are based on merit, meaning students are accepted based on their previous academic performance.
BAOU collaborates with various national and international organization and has entered into contracts with higher education institutions such as Vardhman Mahaveer Open University and Astrakhan State University in Russia. Baou Admission-
Admissions to BAOU's doctoral, postgraduate, and undergraduate programs are available.The majority of admissions are on a merit basis, with the exception of B.Ed course. For applying for UG programs, candidates should have complete their 10+2 education from a recognized board. For PG programs, applicants must first have a bachelor's degree in a relevant field which they would get from a recognized university or institute. For admission in the B.Ed program, students must success in an entrance test organized by the university. Applications for the programs are done online via the university's official website.
