A MBBS degree, an undergraduate professional degree with a duration of five and half years (including the duration of internship) being granted by National Medical Commission (NMC), is a branch of the medical course. The program combines theoretical background learning in such courses as Anatomy, Physiology, Biochemistry, Pathology and Medicine, and requires clinical rotations and internships.

In Gujarat, NEET UG poly scores are strictly followed to be eligible for MBBS. Through MCC, eligible candidates join the state quota counselling (ACPUGMEC) and 15 percent All India Quota (AIQ) counselling. This is a standard procedure that is followed by the reputed government and private medical colleges in Gujarat.

Step 1: Apply to NEET UG through the official NTA webpage with all required information filled and fee of examination paid.

Step 2: Attend the NEET UG exam on the given date, make sure you adhere to the guidelines of the exam and bring the needed documents.

Step 3: Once the results are published, you should download your NEET UG scorecard and should have the score at least according to the Medical Council of India and state authorities minimum qualifying standard.

Step 4: Enroll in Gujarat state MBBS counselling on the actual portal of Admission Committee for professional undergraduate medical courses (ACPUGMEC). Send the documents needed online and register the counselling fee.

Step 5: Enter your choices of medical colleges and courses when filling the choice-window, given by ACPUGMEC.

Step 6: Become a part of the online counselling process. Your score in NEET UG and your reservation group, and the preferences (college-wise) of places will be the finer details of how your seats are assigned.

Step 7: In the event you are assigned a seat then you should pay the seat acceptance fee online in order to guarantee your admission.

Step 8: Submit all the original documents to a designated medical college and get them checked in the specified period.

Step 9: Once the document verification process is successfully done, you should pay the left over tuition fees with the admission fees as per the college policy and get an admission letter. This will start your academic session according to the university schedule.

FAQs

How can NEET UG be used in Gujarat to gain MBBS admission?

The only entrance examination in Gujarat to get the MBBS admission is NEET UG. The state admission and counselling of government as well as non-government medical colleges in Gujarat can only be conducted through a NEET UG qualified candidate.

Does Gujarat offering MBBS have management or NRI quota seats?

Yes, along with the government and state quota some seats in the Gujarat medical colleges are also management and NRI quota seats. These quotas have different eligibility, documentation and fee structure and NRI candidates might be required to produce other documents like a Provisional Eligibility Certificate of the university.

What is the counselling process for MBBS admission in Gujarat?

ACPUGMEC does it through online counselling. Interested applicants will be registering, submitting the required documents and Deposit a counselling fee. They thereafter fill and lock their college choices. Allotment of seats is on the basis of NEET UG level, reservation and preferences. The candidates who are assigned the seats are required to remit the acceptance fee and present themselves at the document check up.

Can I participate in both All India Quota and Gujarat State Quota counselling?

Yes they can both in All India Quota counselling of 15 percent done through MCC as well as in All India Quota counselling done through ACPUGMEC of 85 percent but they have to be eligible with either.

What happens when both candidates score the same number in NEET entrance exams?

When there is a tie in the NEET scores, the seat allotment process takes place according to various tie-breaks like a candidate getting more marks in the Biology test, then Chemistry, and then the incorrect answer to the smallest among them, and finally to age, in which the older candidate gets the final preference.

What happens if I do not get a seat in the first round of counselling?

In case you are not assigned a seat during the first round, you will be allowed to attend further rounds of counselling, which also includes mop-up rounds. You can update your selections of colleges or wait until they offer vacancies in the subsequent rounds.
