Telangana MBBS Admissions

The Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery program (MBBS) is a 5.5-year program that consists of 4.5 years of academic studies and 1 year of compulsory rotating internship. All MBBS admissions in Telangana are through NEET-UG, which guarantees standardized medical education among two groups of colleges - government and private colleges.

The Kaloji Narayana Rao University of Health Sciences (KNRUHS), Warangal, is the counselling authority for the 85% Telangana State Quota. In order to get into reputable colleges, like Osmania Medical College, Gandhi Medical College,etc students must qualify NEET-UG and take part in the state and centralized on-line counselling process facilitated by KNRUHS. The process is transparent, merit-based, with clearly defined eligibility and reservation policies for persons domiciled in Telangana.

Telangana MBBS Admissions Eligibility Criteria

The following are the eligibility criteria of candidates who seek admissions under the MBBS programs in Telangana:

• Requirements must have passed 10+2 (or equivalent) with Physics, Chemistry, Biology/Biotechnology, and English, as compulsory subjects with a recognized board.
• He/she must have obtained not less than 50% aggregate marks in PCB (40% SC/ST/BC categories).
• Need to have passed NEET-UG with minimum required percentile (50 th percentile in General/EWS, 40 th percentile in SC/ST/BC, 45 th percentile in PwD in unreserved).
• The applicant must be aged 17 or more by 31 December of the year of application.
• In state quota seats, the candidates need to fulfill domicile of Telangana or must conform to local /non-local requirements as stipulated by the Telangana government.

Telangana MBBS Admissions Entrance Exam

There is no separate state-level entrance exam for MBBS in Telangana. All admissions are made via NEET-UG:

Admission Process for MBBS in Telangana

The visual organized procedure followed in the majority of medical colleges in Telangana and others is:

Step-1: Register to NEET-UG at the official NTA portal and prescribed date and attempt the exam. When NEET results are released, visit the KNRUHS counselling portal domain and do the online registration with NEET details.

Step-2: Fill personal and academic information, and attach documents including NEET scorecard, marksheets, domicile/local status certificate, caste certificate, and photos.

Step-3: Make online payment of the stipulated counselling registration fee via KNRUHS portal. Await the state merit list using NEET scores and reservation categories

Step-4: Login and select preferred colleges such as Osmania Medical College or other according to the priority.

Step-5: Results of seat allotment will be available online and depend on merit rank, reservation status and filled choices. Download seat allotment letter and physically report to the allocated college to verify documents.

Step-6: Deposit the tuition and admission fee as required by the college in order to secure your seat. Finally, take the medical fitness test at the college and start classes as per the academic schedule.
