The Indian Institute of Technology (IIT), Bombay, has released the syllabus for UCEED 2025. The syllabus is released online at the UCEED - IIT Bombay admission portal. Per the current syllabus, Part A of UCEED 2024 will be administered in a computer-based test (CBT) mode with three sections (NAT, MSQ, and MCQ).

Meanwhile, Part B will have two sections - 1) the Drawing-based section and 2) the Design Aptitude Section. One question will be asked from each section. The detailed syllabus for UCEED 2025 is outlined below. Along with the syllabus, consult the UCEED 2024 exam pattern. 

IIT Bombay will conduct the national-level UCEED 2025 on January 19, 2025. The merit rank of UCEED 2025 will be used to offer admission to the B.Des program offered by participating institutes. 

Structure of the UCEED 2025 Exam

The UCEED 2025 exam consists of two main sections: Part A and Part B. Each part evaluates different skills, with Part A being conducted online as a Computer-Based Test (CBT) and Part B being an offline test focusing on design and drawing skills

UCEED 2025 Exam Pattern

In addition to the syllabus, IIT Bombay made some changes to the UCEED exam pattern applicable from 2024 onwards. The UCEED entrance exam has two Parts - Part A and Part B. However, Part B is now 60 minutes (instead of 30 minutes) and includes two questions (instead of one).

  • Candidates must attempt Part A and Part B. Candidates are urged to go through the detailed UCEED 2023 exam pattern to get additional insights - marking scheme, section-wise weightage, etc. 
  • For the sketching test (Part B), the candidate will be provided answer sheets inside the exam hall. 

Part A Syllabus for UCEED 2025

Part A includes various topics to test a candidate's analytical, spatial, and creative abilities. The sections included in Part A are:

  • Visualization and Spatial Reasoning: The ability to manipulate and visualize two- and three-dimensional objects and their spatial relationships is evaluated in this part.
  • Practical and Scientific Knowledge: Tests the ability to recognise and analyze the properties of everyday objects and apply scientific reasoning to interpret their functions.
  • Observation and Design Sensitivity: This section assesses sensitivity to design-related concerns as well as knowledge of the ways that the environment, society, and culture impact design.
  • Environment and Society: Focuses on understanding the relationship between design and its environmental, social, and cultural context.
  • Analytical and Logical Reasoning: Evaluate a person's capacity to evaluate, comprehend, and make sense of qualitative and quantitative data.
  • Language: Assesses the candidate's proficiency in reading and comprehending standard English.
  • Creativity: Evaluates the ability to understand and apply verbal and non-verbal analogies, metaphors, and symbols.

Part B Syllabus for UCEED 2025

Part B includes two sections that evaluate a candidate’s practical skills in design and drawing.

  • Drawing: The drawing section assesses the ability to depict objects, people, or scenes accurately, with attention to detail, proportion, perspective, and shading.
  • Design Aptitude: This section tests the candidate's ability to respond to design problems practically and empathetically, demonstrating creative problem-solving skills.

How to Prepare for UCEED 2025

The following actions can help you get ready for UCEED 2025:

  1. Examine the syllabus: Completely: Begin by comprehending the subjects covered in Part A and Part B of the syllabus.
  2. Make a Study Schedule: Divide the material into more approachable, minor subjects. Before tackling the more complex subjects, concentrate on proficiency in the simpler ones.
  3. Solve Sample and Previous Year Papers: Practice with sample papers and past UCEED papers to improve your problem-solving speed and accuracy. This also helps you become familiar with the exam’s format and the time constraints.
  4. Focus on Time Management: While solving sample papers, simulate exam conditions by timing yourself. This will help you manage your time better during the actual exam.
  5. Stay Consistent with Practice: Regularly solving problems and drawing sketches will help you become more comfortable with the questions asked in Part A and Part B.

UCEED Sample Papers and Question Papers

Solve sample papers and previous years' UCEED question papers to improve your problem-solving ability and better understand various concepts' topics and interplay. Note that you can solve sample papers early in the exam preparation.

For instance, you can solve the related problems after you complete a topic. This way, you can keep solving more and more problems as you complete more chapters.

By completing the syllabus, you must be able to solve the entire sample paper. Solve as many example papers as you can, including question papers from prior years.

How to prepare for UCEED 2025?

Like any entrance exam, while preparing for the exam, aspirants are advised to go through past years' UCEED question papers for it. Candidates should also review sample papers and mock tests for UCEED 2025 preparation.

What is the pattern of UCEED 2025?

The UCEED 2025 exam will have two parts - 1) online-based Part A, and 2) offline-based Part B. Note that Part B answer booklets will be evaluated only if the candidate qualifies for Part A. The duration of the UCEED 2025 exam will be three hours, during which the candidate will have to attempt 59 questions

Is 50 a good score in UCEED?

A good score in UCEED 2025 depends on various factors, such as the difficulty level of the exam and the number of applicants. Generally, a score between 11-125 is considered competitive, especially for top institutes like IIT Bombay, IIT Delhi, and IIT Guwahati.

Who is eligible for UCEED 2025?

The candidate should have passed all five subjects in the qualifying examination (Class XII or equivalent) in 2024 or 2025. Those who appeared for the first time in their qualifying examination in 2023 or earlier are NOT eligible.

Is GK asked in UCEED?

There were no GK questions in the exam. Part A included aptitude questions based on Mathematics, verbal reasoning, and non-verbal reasoning. In the UCEED 2024, there were a total of 18 numerical ability type (NAT) questions, 18 multiple-select questions (MSQs), and 32 multiple-choice questions (MCQs).

Does IIT Bombay accept UCEED?

aThe Institute will allot some seats in their undergraduate programme for admission through UCEED for the academic year 2025-2026. The Footwear Design & Development Institute (FDDI) will not be a part of the Joint Admission Process conducted by IIT Bombay.
