IIT Bombay administers the Undergraduate Common Entrance Examination for Design (UCEED), a national exam, to students wishing to enrol in the BDes program at IIT Bombay, IIT Delhi, IIT Guwahati, IIT Hyderabad, and IIITDM Jabalpur. The merit of UCEED results determines admission to these programs.

Candidates must obtain a merit rank to participate in the UCEED counselling process. IIT Bombay will carry out the counselling through a Joint Seat Allotment Process.

In addition to the participating institutes, UCEED scores are also accepted by result-sharing institutes. However, these result-sharing institutes do not participate in the Joint Seat Allotment Process. They use UCEED scores to fill a limited number of seats.

 IIT Bombay will conduct the UCEED 2025 exam on January 19, 2025 (9 am - 12 noon). The candidate must report to the UCEED 2025 exam centre at 7 am.

The candidate must follow UCEED 2025 exam-day guidelines for an event-free day.

Also, report to the UCEED 2025 exam centre at the reporting time mentioned on the admit card. Note that latecomers may not be allowed entry inside the exam centre.

UCEED Eligibility Criteria 2025

The candidate must meet the following conditions for admission to the B.Des program offered by the UCEED 2025 participating institutes.

Who is not eligible:

Those who appeared for the first time in their qualifying examination in 2023 or earlier are NOT eligible.

UCEED 2025 Reservation Criteria

The category-wise reservation criteria for the B.Des course at participating colleges is in the table below.

UCEED Application Form 2025

The application form for UCEED 2025 has closed.

Candidates who met the prescribed eligibility criteria for the B.Des program had to apply before the last date.

The candidate could apply for UCEED 2025 with regular and late fees.

The late application fee is INR 500.

How to fill out the UCEED application form

To get registered, the candidate had to follow these steps.

  1. Online registration - Click on the registration link. You will be redirected to a registration form. Fill in details like a valid email ID and mobile number. On successful registration, an applicant account will be created. 
  2. Fill in the form - The application form will include personal, academic, and contact details. Fill in all the sections. You will also be required to select THREE exam cities in the order of priority.
  3. Upload documents - The candidate has to upload documents like a photograph, signature, date of birth proof, and qualifying exam certificates in the prescribed format.
  4. Pay the application fee - The fee must be paid online. The application fee for the OPEN category is INR 4000, and INR 2000 for reserved category candidates.

UCEED Exam Pattern 2025

The UCEED exam is divided into two parts - A and B.

As per the official exam pattern of UCEED 2025, Part B will include TWO Drawing and Design aptitude questions. The duration of Paper B will be 60 minutes. The question in Part B will be displayed on the computer screen, and the answer must be written/drawn in the answer book provided by the invigilator.

Further, Part B will be evaluated only if the candidate qualifies for Part A.

UCEED Syllabus 2025

IIT Bombay revised the UCEED syllabus in the previous edition of the entrance exam.

Here are the key points about the UCEED syllabus 2025:

  1. The UCEED 2025 question paper has two parts - Part A and Part B
  2. Part A will be administered through a computer-based test consisting of three sections (NAT, MSQ, and MCQ).
  3. Part B will now have TWO questions: one on Drawing and the other on Design aptitude. The question in Part B will be displayed on the computer screen, and the answer has to be written/drawn in the answer book provided by the invigilator only.
  4. A will be 120 minutes, while Part B will be 60 minutes.

Part A will have questions on the following topics:

  • Visualization and spatial reasoning: Ability to visualize and transform 2D shapes and 3D objects and their spatial relationships.
  • Practical and scientific knowledge: Know-how of scientific principles and everyday objects.
  • Observation and design sensitivity: The capacity to detect concealed properties in daily life and think critically about them. Attention to detail, classification, analysis, inference, and prediction.
  • Environment and society: General awareness of environmental, social, and cultural connections with design.
  • Analytical and logical reasoning: Ability to analyze qualitative and quantitative information.
  • Language: Proficiency in reading and comprehending Standard English.
  • Creativity: Grasp of verbal and non-verbal analogies, metaphors, signs, and symbols. 

Part B will have questions on the following topics:

  • Drawing: Ability to draw products, people, or scenes in proportion with good line quality, composition, proportion, perspective, and shading.
  • Design aptitude: Capability to practically and appropriately respond to problems/situations with ingenuity and empathy.

UCEED Admit Card 2025

Admit cards for UCEED 2025 were released on January 3, 2025. All applicants who successfully finish the application process will receive their admission card. The UCEED-IIT Bombay admission page is where candidates must download their admit card. Information such as the UCEED 2025 exam date and time, the exam centre's name and address, exam timings, reporting time, and exam-day instructions will all be included on the admit card. Candidates must present their admission card and a valid photo ID on exam day.

How to download UCEED Admit Card 2025

  1. Go to the UCEED 2025 admission portal
  2. If the admit card is released, a download link will be activated
  3. Click on the UCEED 2025 admit card download link
  4.  A login window will OPEN
  5. Enter your email ID and password
  6. The admission card will appear in downloadable PDF format upon login.
  7. Download the admit card, then print it out.

UCEED Results 2025

IIT Bombay will declare the results of UCEED 2024 on March 7, 2035. The results will be declared online at the UCEED 2025 admission portal.

Candidates will need a registered email ID and password to check the results.

The UCEED 2025 scorecard will be available for download soon after exam results are declared.

How to check the UCEED 2025 result

The result of UCEED 2025 will be declared online. Follow these steps to check your results.

  1. Go to the UCEED 2025 admission portal and click on the result link
  2. A log-in window will open
  3. Enter your registered email ID and password
  4. On successful log-in, the UCEED 2025 result will be displayed on the screen
  5. Download and print out the results.

UCEED Cut-off 2025

IIT Bombay will release cutoff marks for Part A on February 6, 2025. The cut-offs will be released in the form of mean and standard deviations.

Part B answer booklets will be evaluated only if the candidate meets Part cut-off marks. Also, all candidates who met the cut-off were shortlisted.

  • The evaluation of Part B is done manually.

Release of UCEED 2025 admission cut-off

IIT Bombay will release the category-wise cut-off marks for admission to the B.vDes program. Candidates who meet the cut-off rank in their category are eligible for admission to the B.Des program for Round I. 

UCEED Counselling 2025 

 IIT Bombay will conduct UCEED 2025 counselling registration from March 14-31, 2025. Candidates who are allocated a merit rank in UCEED 2025 can register. Check their qualifying status by logging into the UCEED 2025 result portal

To register, the Candidate must pay the counselling fee of INR 4000, fill in personal particulars, and select institutes in the order of preference.
