BHU Postgraduate (PG) Admissions 2024

BHU offers various Postgraduate Programs such as MA, M.Sc, M.Com, MBA, M.Tech, M.Ed, LL.B, and M.Com.   1. Candidates need to register online on the BHU website and NTA online portal.
  2. Candidates are then required to appear and qualify the CUET / NEET / CAT exam with valid scores.
  3. After result declaration, students can check the results and merit lists on the official website.
  4. Next, students need to register for the Counseling Process and choose their preferences.
  5. Based on students merit and preferences, available seats will be allocated to them.
  6. Students are then required to attend the document verification process at their prescribed designated Center.
  7. At last, pay the admission fee in order to confirm the seat allocated as well as the Admission to BHU.

Banaras Hindu University Postgraduation Admissions

At Banaras Hindu University, students have to score certain marks in their graduation to be eligible for PG admissions. The merit for PG admissions is generated using the CUET-PG scores but one has scored a minimum aggregate percentage in their previous academics. PhD admissions at Banaras Hindu University are offered based on scores one has gotten in the UGC-NET/JRF, etc research exams or the Research Aptitude test (RET) that BHU conducts. Banaras Hindu University Admission Application Process

Follow these steps to complete Banaras Hindu University's online application process:

  1. Complete the registration process at the BHU official website.
  2. Fill in Identification Card details such as Aadhar card, PAN card, etc,
  3. If you meet the eligibility conditions, choose a course from the list.
  4. Add other details, upload the image and signature PDF, and also select the test center. Also, upload the necessary documents.
  5. Preview the application details and then submit.
  6. Make the payment as required.

Once you have completed the online application process, you will receive an email or text from the BHU regarding the completion of the application. You have to appear for the entrance test conducted by BHU and if you pass the entrance test, you have to appear for the counseling round then you will be offered admission.

After the completion of all stages, you have to visit the BHU campus for verification of documents where you have to take the original documents and their scanned copy with yourself.

PhD Admissions

The admissions for PhD at Banaras Hindu University is made through the Research Entrance Test (RET) or NTA-RET. Candidates who have appeared for GATE/UGC-NET/JRF or any such fellowship entrance test are exempted from appearing in the RET or NTA-RET. BHU has mentioned for which PhD program candidates have to appear for RET or NAT-RET if they have not appeared in any national-level entrance.

  1. For general category students, the entrance cutoff for PhD programs is 40%, whereas for SC/ST/OBC category students, it is 35%.
  2. The BHU-RET consists of 100 Multiple Choice Questions. For every correct answer, 4 marks are given and no marks are deducted for answering the question incorrectly. The test is of 120-minute duration. The test paper consists of 50% research-based questions and another 50% of questions are subject-specific. The test is conducted using pen and paper mode.
  3. If students pass the entrance test conducted by BHU or NTA, students have to appear for an interview round where they will be asked about their interest in a PhD, and questions from the selected subject will also be addressed.
  4. The application for PhD is filled in December. To finish the application process, one must go to the BHU website.
  5. For candidates in the General Category or EWS, the application cost is INR 600; for those with SC, ST, or OBC categories, it is INR 300. If the student is RET exempt or appearing for NTA RET, then the application fee is INR 200 for General Category or EWS and INR 100 for SC/ST/OBC candidates.
