NIT Calicut (National Institute of Technology), established in 1961, is a fully centrally funded, academically autonomous institute governed by the NIT Act 2007. It holds the 31st position in the Institutes of National Importance. The campus is approved by the AICTE, under the Ministry of Human Resource Development, Government of India.
