Bachelor of Pharmacy is an undergraduate degree that is aimed to provide students with the scientific theory and practical training necessary for a profession within the pharmaceutical and healthcare sectors. The BSc Pharm course is planned carefully to offer a sound foundation in the fundamental scientific subjects such as pharmaceutical chemistry, pharmacology, pharmacognosy, and pharmaceutics, alongside relative practical training and industry exposure.

Every semester of BPharm comprises theoretical lectures, laboratory practice, research studies, and internships. The focus of the course lies in developing an acquaintance with drug development, formulation, regulatory compliance, and patient management. Multidisciplinary courses such as communication skills, ethics, biostatistics, and regulatory affairs are also part of the curriculum.

BPharm Syllabus Structure

The BPharm course syllabus includes 4 types of course categories. All of the course categories are explained below:

Code Suffix

Type of Course

Explanation

T

Theory Subject

It includes the subjects that are taught in the classroom through theoretical lectures.

P

Practical Subject

It includes the practical work for some of the theoretical subjects. It will include lab work with experiments, formulation, analysis, etc.

RBT / RMT

Remedial Biology / Remedial Mathematics – Theory

This is a foundation-level subject given to students who did not study Biology (RBT) or Mathematics (RMT) in their 12th grade. These help students catch up with the required basics and are usually included in the 1st semester.

RBP

Remedial Biology – Practical

This is the lab/practical component of the Remedial Biology course. Often required for non-biology background students.

ET

Elective Theory

These are optional or specialization theory courses that students can choose based on interest or career path in the final semester.

PW

Project Work

It is the project undertaken by students in the last semester (usually Semester 8).

PS

Practice School (Internship)

Represents an industrial internship or practice-based training in a real pharmaceutical setting, typically during Semester 7
