BPT Admission: Eligibility Criteria, Entrance Exams in India

The Bachelor of Physiotherapy is a 4.5-year undergraduate program that includes 4 years of academic study and 6 months of compulsory clinical internship. It provides students with the knowledge of physical movement and how they examine and treat patients who have physical disabilities or injuries, using therapeutic exercises and modalities. BPT provides a good career option and offers them the opportunity to experience practicing in hospitals, clinics, sports clinics, and private practice areas as well, and also ensures a career related to healthcare without getting a medical degree.

To get admission in 2025, the candidate must have passed 10+2 with PCB (Physics, Chemistry, and Biology) under a recognized board. Students in the general category must have at least an aggregate of 50% in PCB, whereas SC/ST/OBC students must obtain 40-45%. This varies according to the institution or the state. The entrance exams, such as NEET UG or CUET UG, are the primary means to be admitted, and state counseling systems generate subsequent admission (e.g., DTE Goa for students into Goa Medical College). Seats of shortlisted candidates are allotted on the basis of entrance exam scores, category, availability of seats, and on the basis of document verification. Government colleges are open to Indian citizens only, whereas in private institutions, candidates can apply in management quota or NRI quota also (NRI/OCI/PIO).

Applicants who want to take admission in the BPT course must fulfill the eligibility criteria by the respective universities or state authorities. While specific requirements may vary slightly from one institution or state to another, the general criteria are as follows:

• To get admissions to the 4.5-year BPT course (involving 6 months compulsory internship), the student must pass the 10+2 (HSC or equivalent) examination with physics, chemistry, and biology (PCB) as internal subjects through a recognized board.
• The General category people require a minimum of 50% aggregate marks in PCB, whereas SC/ST/OBC people require 40-45% aggregate marks in PCB, depending on the state or the institution.
• Students in their final year at 12th grade can also apply with the promise of getting the required marks during admission time.
• Most institutions do not require there to be any age limit to admission, although there may be age requirements in entrance exams depending on the state or university.
• Admission to the government and private colleges is open only to Indian citizens. One of the ways through which the NRI/OCI/PIO applicants can have a crack is by applying through management quota/NRI category seats in the BPT program offered by the private institutions.

BPT Admission Process

Below mentioned is the BPT admission process at Goa Medical College:

Step 1: Visit the official NEET UG website of the National Testing Agency (NTA) and register yourself as an applicant with the help of a new applicant profile.

Step 2: Fill in your personal, educational qualification, category, and contact details carefully in the NEET UG application form.

Step 3: Upload the required documents such as:

• Recent passport-sized photograph
• Signature
• Class 10 & 12 mark sheets
• ID proof (Aadhaar card or any valid government ID)
• Category certificate (if applicable)

Step 4: Ensure that the NEET UG application fee is paid online through the available alternatives, such as UPI, debit card, credit card, or net banking.

Step 5: After the NEET UG admit card is available, download it and give the NEET UG 2025 examination at the allotted center.

Step 6: Once the declaration of the NEET UG results, one should complete registration, the Goa state BPT counseling, via the Directorate of Technical Education (DTE), Goa on their official site.

Step 7: Apply the counseling procedure and keep BPT at Goa Medical College as one of the options. Upload the essential papers in the process.

Step 8: The state merit list will be released on the basis of your NEET UG result and place. Document verification and counseling will be done to the shortlisted candidates.

Step 9: On the mentioned counseling date, one should be present with original documents. The allocation of seats will be made according to NEET rank, the reservation rule, as well as availability of seats.

Step 10: When you get a seat in Goa Medical College (BPT), make sure to verify your admission by paying the admission fee within the stipulated time and also provide original copies of your documents as and when asked.
