JAM 2025, or the Joint Admission Test for Masters, is one of the most prestigious national-level entrance exams conducted annually by the Indian Institutes of Technology (IITs) for different postgraduate programs in science and technology. The following are the qualifying criteria for IIT JAM 2025 based on age, country, educational qualifications, and minimum marks required:

General Eligibility

Candidates applying for IIT JAM 2025 have no upper age limit.

Nationality:

• Indian nationals are eligible to apply.
• Foreign nationals may also apply, but they must meet the special eligibility requirements established by the participating institutions.

Educational Qualification:

• Candidates must hold a bachelor's degree in any discipline from a recognised university.
• The qualifying degree should be obtained in 2023 or by 2025.
• There is no minimum percentage requirement for applying; nonetheless, candidates must meet the institute's eligibility requirements for admission.

Minimum marks:

Candidates must have obtained at least 55% aggregate marks in their undergraduate degree (50% for SC/ ST/ PWD candidates).

• Multiple Choice Questions (MCQ): Each question has four options, with only one correct answer. Negative marking applies.
• Multiple Select Questions (MSQ): Each question has multiple correct answers. No negative marking.

2. IIT JAM 2025: Marking Scheme

• Questions carry 1 or 2 marks.
• Incorrect answers in MCQs will result in a deduction of ⅔ marks for 2-mark questions and ⅓ marks for 1-mark questions.

IIT JAM 2025 Syllabus

The IIT JAM 2025 syllabus also has different topics depending upon the test paper chosen by the candidate. For Biotechnology (BT) it includes Biochemistry, Microbiology, Genetics, and Molecular Biology, whereas Chemistry (CY) would include Organic, Inorganic, and Physical Chemistry, and Economics (EN) includes Microeconomics, Macroeconomics, and Statistics. Geology (GG) includes structural geology, mineralogy, and environmental geology, and Mathematics (MA) includes algebra, real analysis, and differential equations, while mathematical statistics include probability and linear models. The IIT JAM 2025 admit card will be available for download from January 6, 2025, for candidates appearing for the MSc/MSc Int PhD program.
