Update on Aug 02 2025, 12:31 PM IST

The JEE Advanced 2025 cutoff for IIT Mandi shows the first and last ranks at which students were admitted to its B.Tech courses. These ranks give candidates a fair idea of how competitive each branch is during the JosAA Counselling process. For example, in 2025, the Computer Science and Engineering program at IIT Mandi opened at AIR 2096 and closed around 3087. On the other hand, Civil Engineering closed near AIR 12,486, indicating relatively lower demand. By reviewing such cutoff details, students can understand which branches are tougher to get into and plan their choices accordingly.

These cutoff ranks also differ based on categories like General, OBC-NCL, EWS, SC, and ST. Multiple factors affect them, such as the total number of seats in each branch, student preferences, and overall competition in a given year. Looking at past year cutoffs can help students estimate their chances more accurately. It also allows them to set achievable goals and fine-tune their JEE Advanced preparation, especially if they have a specific course in mind at IIT Mandi. Understanding these trends early on can make the counselling and decision-making process smoother and more focused.

Factors Affecting IIT Mandi Cutoff

The cutoff ranks for IIT Mandi vary each year due to several important factors. These factors influence how high or low the closing ranks go for each branch and category. Here are the key reasons that affect the JEE Advanced cutoff at IIT Mandi:

  1. Number of Applicants: When more students apply for admission, the competition increases. As a result, the closing ranks become higher because more candidates are competing for the same number of seats.
  2. Difficulty Level of JEE Advanced: If the JEE Advanced paper is tough, fewer students score high marks, which may lower the cutoffs. On the other hand, if the exam is easy, more students perform well, raising the cutoff ranks.
  3. Seat Matrix (Course & Category-wise): Changes in the number of available seats for each branch and category directly impact the cutoff. For example, if IIT Mandi increases seats in a branch like Computer Science, the closing rank may shift accordingly.
  4. Branch Demand and Emerging Programs: Popular branches like CSE usually have high cutoffs. However, newer branches such as Data Science & Engineering Physics are gaining demand, and their cutoffs are also rising closer to the top programs.
  5. Previous Year Trends: Many students use past cutoff data to decide which branch to target. If a branch had a high closing rank in earlier years, it tends to attract more aspirants, pushing the current year’s cutoff even higher.
  6. Reservation and Category Distribution: Different categories such as General, OBC-NCL, SC, ST, and EWS have separate quotas. The closing ranks for each vary depending on the number of applicants and seats reserved for that category.
