JD Birla Institute Kolkata Admission 2025: Eligibility, Application Process, Selection Criteria

JD Birla Institute offers a range of undergraduate and postgraduate programs, with B.Sc (Honors) and B.Com at the UG level, and M.Sc, M.Com, and PG Diploma in Dietetics and Applied Nutrition at the PG level. The B.Sc (Honors) program has 40 seats, while B.Com has 250 seats. At the postgraduate level, the M.Sc program has 10 seats, M.Com offers 30 seats, and the PG Diploma program has 15 seats. For admission to the B.Sc (Honors) course, applicants must have completed their 10+2 or its equivalent with a minimum of 50% marks from a recognized board. To be eligible for B.Com, candidates need to have secured at least 55% in their 10+2 examinations. For postgraduate programs, candidates must meet specific eligibility criteria: M.Sc and PG Diploma candidates should have completed a B.Sc (Honors) with at least 55% marks, while M.Com candidates must hold a B.Com degree with a minimum of 55% marks. Admissions to B.Sc (Honors) are based on merit in the 10+2 examination, followed by an aptitude test and a personal interview. B.Com admissions are based on the candidate’s qualifying exam marks and a group discussion. JD Birla Institute offers BSc (Hons.) and B.Com courses of 3-year duration each. Admission to the applicants in B.Sc (Hons.) program is given on the basis of the merit in the qualifying examination and scores obtained in aptitude test and personal interview. Similarly, selection of the candidates for B.Com course is done based on merit in 10+2 and performance in Group Interview.

Applicants who have passed 10+2 or its equivalent qualifying examination from any board recognized by Jadavpur University with English as one compulsory language with minimum 50% marks in aggregate are considered eligible for admission to B.Sc (Honors) program. Those who have completed 10+2 from Jadavpur University recognized board with minimum 55% marks are eligible to get admission in B.Com course.

Applicants can apply for M.Sc and M.Com at the PG level, and a PG Diploma program offered by the institute. Those who have completed B.Sc (Hons.) with minimum 55% marks in aggregate from Jadavpur University or any other recognized University are considered eligible for admission to M.Sc program. For admission to M.Com course students must have passed B.Com (Hons.) program with minimum 55% marks.

For the PG Diploma program, candidates must have completed B.Sc (Honors) in Home Science/ Food and Nutrition/ Food Science and Nutrition Management, Food Science and Processing, Clinical Nutrition and Dietetics, Physiology, and Biochemistry with minimum 55% marks to be considered eligible.

Admission in M.Sc and PG Diploma is given by evaluating the marks scored in graduation and general aptitude test, while the selection of the candidates for M.Com course is made on the basis of merit in B.Com and marks obtained in personal interview round conducted by the college.
