1. The availability of seats at the institute: If seats available for the program are limited and the number of students who applied for the seat is high, then the cut-off is set high.

1. The hardness level of the entrance exam: If the entrance exam's level is set high then fewer candidates will qualify for the exam and the cut-off may be low.
