Bachelor of Arts (BA) in Psychology is a 3-year undergraduate programme that deals with the study of human behaviour and their emotions as well as cognitive processes from a social science perspective. It equips students with theoretical knowledge and practical values about how a person thinks, acts and interacts with peers and society. This programme also reconnoitres the role of environment, culture and upbringing to shape an individual’s personality as well as their mental health.

Students from any stream can pursue this course. Students who have passed the 10+2 or equivalent exam with a minimum 50% score in any stream can join this course. Some universities admit the student through an entrance exam conducted by that particular university-specific entrance exam or any all-India entrance exam.

The BA Psychology programme enhances the critical thinking and empathy of the students. It helps the student to build their skills in communications and observations as well as psychological and psychosocial assessment. Professionals trained in psychology are in high demand in a wide range of sectors due to the rising global awareness. There is a significant gap in mental health treatment access and thus a need for more trained psychologists.
