26 Sept, 2025 : IIT Guwahati has announced changes to the GATE 2026 schedule to avoid a clash with the UPSC Engineering Services Examination (ESE) on February 8, 2026. The GATE 2026 committee has confirmed that papers such as CE, EC, EE, GE, GG, IN, ME, and PI will not be held on this date, in line with the UPSC Annual Calendar. The updated schedule will be released soon.

IIST – Hostel Charges for Postgraduate Programme

For students enrolled in postgraduate courses, the hostel fee per semester is set at INR 8,750. Additionally, an advance mess bill of INR 18,000 is payable after joining, which covers the canteen services throughout the semester.

 

IIST – Hostel Fees for Ph.D. Scholars

Ph.D. candidates residing in the hostel are required to pay a hostel fee of INR 10,250 per semester. Similar to postgraduate students, they must also pay a nominal advance mess bill of INR 18,000.
