NIT Srinagar - National Institute of Technology M.E./M.Tech Admission: Fees, Cutoff, Placement, Ranking

Admission to NIT Srinagar through JEE Main typically requires a rank much higher than what is obtained with a 70 percentile, as the closing ranks for even the least sought branches are generally several times lower than the rank corresponding to the 70 percentile, especially for the Open category. For instance, in 2025 the closing All India Rank (AIR) for Chemical Engineering (Open, Gender-Neutral) was around 55,299 in Round 6, which generally translates to a percentile above 90 for General category candidates; thus, a 70 percentile is not sufficient for admission in any branch at NIT Srinagar for Open (AI) seats.

Among all NITs, the lowest cutoffs each year are typically recorded at newer and north-eastern NITs in certain branches such as Civil, Mechanical, or Metallurgical Engineering, rather than NIT Srinagar.
