A Bachelor of Design in Industrial Design is a four-year undergraduate course that focuses on designing and developing products that we use in our everyday lives, like furniture, home appliances, tools, vehicles, and even packaging. The course teaches you how to design things we use in everyday life — like gadgets, furniture, vehicles, packaging, and even home appliances.

Many colleges in India offer this course, like Avantika University, VIT Vellore, Woxsen University, LPU (Lovely Professional University), Symbiosis Institute of Design in Pune, IPU (Indraprastha University), and Chandigarh University. Some call the course “B.Des in Product and Industrial Design” or just “B.Des in Industrial Design,” but it’s pretty much the same idea — learning to create better and more useful products.

You need to clear an entrance like LPUNEST, CUCET, WDT, UCEED, NID DAT, NIFTEE, VIT-DAT, depending on the interested college. The fees can range approximately from INR 4 lakhs to INR 16 lakhs in total for the full course. After graduating, you can get into jobs like product designer, industrial designer, UX/UI designer, CAD designer, and so on. The salary can be between INR 3-15 LPA, varying with experience.
