WBJEE 2025 Eligibility Criteria: The West Bengal Joint Entrance Examinations Board (WBJEEB) releases the official WBJEE eligibility criteria 2025. The list of qualifications that candidates must meet for admission into the participating institutes of the state will constitute the eligibility criteria for WBJEE 2025. Before registering for WBJEE 2025, candidates are advised to carefully review the official eligibility criteria. Ineligible candidates will not be considered for BTech admissions into the WBJEE participating institutes. Some of the factors included in the WBJEE eligibility criteria are the candidate's domicile, academic qualifications, age limit, etc. Candidates have to note that the WBJEE eligibility criteria 2025 may differ for some institutes/Universities. WBJEE 2025 General Eligibility Criteria

Candidates can check some of the general WBJEE 2025 eligibility criteria given below.

  • Citizenship: Candidates should be citizens of India or OCI (subject to the approval of the Competent Authority). OCI candidates will be eligible for only Unreserved seats in the All-India Quota.
  • Academic Qualification: Should have passed 12th standard (or its equivalent) qualifying examination before 2025 or be appearing in 2025.
  • Age Limit: The lower age limit is 17 years as of December 31 of the admission year. There is no upper age limit. However, for Marine Engineering admission, the upper age limit is 25 years as of December 31 of the admission year.

 

WBJEE Eligibility Criteria 2025 - Academic Qualifications

The detailed academic qualifications required to be eligible for WBJEE 2025 admissions are listed below.

  • Candidates should have passed the 10+2 standard (or equivalent) qualifying examination with Physics, Mathematics, Chemistry/Computer Science/Electronics/Information Technology/Biology/Informatics Practices/Biotechnology/Technical Vocational Subject/Agriculture/Engineering Graphics/Business Studies/Entrepreneurship.
  • Should have secured a minimum of 45% marks (40% marks for SC/ST/OBC-A/OBC-B/PwD candidates) as an aggregate of three subjects in the qualifying exam.
  • Must have passed in English in the 10+2nd standard (or equivalent) exam with at least 30% marks.
  • The qualifying examination board should be recognised by the Central or State Government.

WBJEE 2025 Eligibility Criteria - Institute-specific admission criteria

Some of the institutes have certain specific criteria for WBJEE 2025 admissions. The institute and their admission criteria are listed in the table below.

 

WBJEE 2025 Eligibility Criteria - Domicile Criteria

The candidates who fulfil the following criteria will be considered as domiciled.

  1. a) Residing in the state continuously for a minimum of 10 years as of December 31 of the admission year, or
  2. b) Whose parent(s) is/are a permanent resident of the state with a permanent address

The WBJEE exam is open to candidates from all over the country. However, the West Bengal Residential/Domicile requirement is applicable for admission to colleges in West Bengal as well as for admission under the reserved category quota.

 

The West Bengal Residential/Domicile requirement is also applicable for candidates applying to the Tuition Fee Waiver (TFW) scheme through WBJEE.

 

Candidates will have to produce their domicile certificates at the time of WBJEE 2025 Counselling. If the certificate is found invalid, their candidature will be cancelled.

 

WBJEE 2025 Seat Reservation

As per the Government of India, the following categories will be considered for admission in West Bengal through WBJEE:

Availability of such reserved category seats shall be restricted to students domiciled in West Bengal only. Candidates seeking admission for reserved category seats will have to produce a valid certificate issued by the Government.

 

Seats for admission through JEE Main 2025

Candidates seeking admission to undergraduate engineering courses offered at self-financing engineering and technology colleges in West Bengal can also apply for admission using their JEE Main scores. 10-50% of seats are available for candidates applying for admission through JEE Main. However, allotment of seats to such candidates will be done through the WBJEE counselling process only.

 

Seats for admission through NATA 2025

Candidates seeking admission to undergraduate architecture courses offered at colleges in West Bengal will have to appear for NATA (National Aptitude Test in Architecture). However, the allotment of seats to such candidates will be done through the WBJEE counselling process only.

 

WBJEE 2025 Eligibility Criteria FAQs

How many attempts are allowed for WBJEE?

There is no limit on the number of times a candidate can apply for the WBJEE exam. However, there is an age limit set for candidates seeking admission in West Bengal through WBJEE scores. Candidates applying for the exam should be a minimum of 17 years old as of December 31 of the admission year. There is no upper age limit to appear for the WBJEE exam. However, candidates seeking admission to Marine Engineering courses in the state through WBJEE should attain 17 years of age as of December 31 of the admission year and should not be more than 25 years old.

How can I select the WBJEE exam centre?

Candidates will be able to select their choice of WBJEE exam centres online while filling out the application form. During the form filling process, the candidates will have to select and submit three preferred WBJEE exam zones. The selection of the zones have to be done in the order of preference. The authorities will allot WBJEE exam centres as per the candidate's preference and the corresponding availability. In case the candidate's first preference is not available, then the second choice will be considered.

Can I appear for just WBJEE Paper 1? Will I be allotted a rank?

Candidates will be able to appear for just Paper 1 of WBJEE. However, these candidates will not be allotted ranks for admission by the authorities. Therefore, the candidates are advised to attempt both papers of WBJEE - Paper 1 (Mathematics) and Paper 2 (Physics and Chemistry). The authorities will conduct the WBJEE paper as a computer-based test.

What is the eligibility criteria for the WBJEE exam?

A minimum score is required to appear for the WBJEE exam. Students who have cleared 10+2 with 45% in aggregate in Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics and other major subjects. General category candidates should have scored an aggregate of 45% in the three compulsory subjects in the 10+2th (or equivalent) examination. As per WBJEE qualifying marks, reserved category candidates should have secured an aggregate of 40%. Should have also qualified in English with minimum.

Why is it important to verify WBJEE eligibility criteria before applying for the exam?

All candidates will be required to comply with the WBJEE eligibility criteria. The official eligibility criteria will be prepared and released online by the authorities of WBJEE. For admissions into the participating colleges of the state, the candidates will be required to meet the minimum eligibility criteria. Candidates, who do not meet the minimum eligibility requirements, will not be allowed to appear for the entrance exam and their applications will be cancelled by WBJEEB
