IIT JAM 2026 Registration is going to begin on September 05, 2025 at jam2026.iitb.ac.in. The IIT JAM 2026 registration last date will be October 12, 2025. Only eligible candidates will be able to register themselves for the JAM 2026 exam on the official website. IIT Bombay has launched the official website along with a tentative exam schedule, session timings, and a list of exam city zones. The IIT JAM 2026 exam is tentatively scheduled to be conducted on February 15, 2026 in Computer-Based Test (CBT) mode. The exam is going to take place in grouped cities into eight zones, where each zone is coordinated by an assigned IIT. IIT JAM 2026 Eligibility Criteria

Candidates are required to meet the IIT JAM 2026 Eligibility Criteria. IIT JAM applicants must have a bachelor’s degree with at least 55% marks from a recognised university. The IIT JAM 2026 application fee varies depending on the category and the number of test papers chosen. Candidates can pay the fee online using debit cards, credit cards, net banking, or UPI. IIT JAM 2026 Registration Process

The IIT JAM 2026 Application Process is all set to begin from September 05, 2025 to October 12, 2025. Candidates are advised to check if they meet the eligibility requirements beforehand. Only eligible candidates will be able to fill out the JAM 2026 Application Form online. 1. Registration on JOAPS (JAM Online Application Processing System)

Candidates interested in applying for IIT JAM 2026 must first register on the JAM Online Application Processing System (JOAPS) portal, which can be accessed at jam2026.iitb.ac.in. During registration, candidates must provide personal details such as their name, valid email address, and active mobile number, and create a password.

 

Once registration is successful, an Enrolment ID and an OTP (One-Time Password) will be sent to the candidate’s email address and mobile number. The Enrolment ID is important for completing the JAM 2026 application form, and the password must be kept secure and confidential to avoid unauthorized access to the account.

 

2. Filling Out the Application Form

Once registered, candidates need to log in to JOAPS using their Enrolment ID or email address & the password they set during registration. They can then proceed to fill out the application form for IIT JAM 2026. Candidates will need to fill out the following details in their IIT JAM Application Form 2026.

  • Personal Information: Name (exactly as per the qualifying degree), date of birth, mobile number, and parent’s/guardian’s details.
  • Contact Details: Address for communication, including the PIN code.
  • Eligibility Information: Details of the candidate’s qualifying degree, the name and address of the College/Institute/University, etc.
  • Choice of JAM Paper(s): Candidates can choose their preferred test papers based on the programs they want to apply for.
  • Choice of Examination Cities: Candidates must select three cities in order of preference for the examination. The cities must belong to the same zone based on the first city selected.

 

3. Document Uploading

Candidates must upload the following documents to complete their IIT JAM 2026 application:

  • Photograph: A recent passport-sized color photograph with a white or light-colored background. The file should be in JPEG/ JPG format, with a size between 20 KB and 200 KB.
  • Signature: A scanned image of the candidate’s signature in black or dark blue ink. The size should be between 10 KB and 150 KB, and the signature should not exceed the dimensions of 2 cm x 7 cm.
  • Category Certificate: Candidates belonging to OBC-NCL, EWS, SC, ST, or PwD categories must upload the respective certificate issued by authorized officials.
  • Disability Certificate (if applicable): Candidates with physical disabilities must upload the relevant certificate, either a Physical Disability Certificate or a Unique Disability Identification (UDID) certificate.
  • 10th Standard Mark Sheet: A scanned copy of the 10th-grade mark sheet.
  • Photo Identity Proof: One of the following: Aadhaar ID, Driving License, PAN Card, Passport, or Voter ID. This ID must be carried to the examination center.

 

4. Application Fee Payment

After completing the form and uploading the necessary documents, candidates are required to pay the application fee for IIT JAM 2026. The fee can be paid online via net banking, debit card, credit card, or UPI. The application fee amount will be automatically determined based on the candidate’s category (General, OBC, SC/ ST, PwD) and the number of test papers chosen.

  • Candidates must review their application form by clicking the "Save and View" button before proceeding with the payment.
  • Once payment is confirmed, candidates will be redirected back to the JOAPS portal where they will receive a confirmation of the fee payment.
  • Candidates who have opted for a single test paper can later pay an additional amount to choose a second test paper if desired.

In case of issues during the payment process (e.g., poor internet connection or power failure), candidates can check the payment status on JOAPS after an hour. If payment is not reflected, they should re-initiate the payment process. In case of double payment or system failure, the excess payment will be refunded within 10 working days.

 

5. Scrutiny and Rectification of Application

Once the application is submitted & the fee is paid, the IIT JAM 2026 administration will begin scrutinizing the applications. This process includes verifying the data provided by the candidate against the uploaded documents. If any discrepancies or issues arise, such as an unclear photograph or signature, the candidate will be informed via email or SMS to rectify the problem within a specified period.

 

Candidates can check the status of their application by logging into JOAPS. If any errors or missing documents are identified, candidates must rectify them before the deadline. Failing to correct the issues may result in the rejection of the application.

 

6. Final Submission and Confirmation

Once the application is scrutinized and any rectifications are made, candidates will receive a final confirmation of the acceptance of their application. After successful verification and fee payment, candidates can download their Admit Card from the JOAPS portal.
